In response to the current crisis in Ukraine, Sant’Egidio immediately committed itself to respond to the need to welcome and protect the population fleeing the country:
Through the experience gained over time with the Humanitarian Corridors programme, Sant'Egidio is now launching an extraordinary reception and integration plan for the Ukrainian population - in particular women, minors and vulnerable people (the elderly and people with severe health conditions). Through its network, Sant'Egidio is prepared to welcome and support families of Ukrainian refugees, by providing them with transportation, housing (in apartments and private homes, according to a widespread hosting model), food, clothing, access to public education and healthcare services, and more.
The monthly cost to provide comprehensive care for one refugee through our programme is $ 470 ($ 5640 yearly).
